On a sheet of paper, discuss the memorial and what you think the message that is sent is. Give your general opinion of the memorial and what feelings you get when you see it. Then compare and contrast the memorial in Berlin with the memorial in Ohio in the picture below.
Make sure you include what the message is in this memorial as well. Decide which memorial you like best and explain why. Then, on a piece of white paper, draw your own memorial that you would like to have constructed. On the back of that paper, explain what the message of your memorial is, where it will be constructed, and why you think it is effective. This activity, as well as the activity that is due from yesterday's work, will complete your assignments for the alternative assignment for the Book Thief. You will have some time on Wednesday to finish your work if you do not finish in class today, but the entire assignment is due on Wednesday at the end of class.
